Details & Description
Join us for our MESS club coffee chats! It’s a relaxed and friendly opportunity to connect with fellow students and engage with professors from the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Melbourne. Each event features a different guest who will share insights about their research, career journey, and experiences in engineering.
Whether you’re curious about projects, looking for advice, or just want to meet new people over a cup of coffee, everyone is welcome. Come along, grab a drink (free for all MESS members!) and be part of the conversation!
Past Events
At MESS, we host a range of technical, industry, and social events designed to connect students with the engineering community. Our past events include skills workshops, industry panels and networking nights, as well as social catch-ups. Check out some of our past events below!
MESS Talks Panel & Networking Night
MESS Talks featured a panel of industry professionals for an evening of discussion and career insights. The event included a panel discussion followed by networking over snacks, allowing students to ask questions, explore different career paths, and connect with professionals in a relaxed setting.
Coffee Chats
Throughout the semester, MESS hosted recurring Coffee Chats where students enjoyed casual conversations with different professors from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UniMelb, giving students the chance to ask questions and gain academic insights from faculty.
CAD + 3D Workshop
At our Intro to CAD + 3D Workshop, students learned the basics of Onshape and created their own personalised 3D-printed phone holders. This workshop gave participants hands-on experience with CAD and 3D modelling, helping them build practical skills that are highly relevant to mechanical and mechatronics engineering and design.
